Addicting Games acquires Diep.io, a 2D tank arena game. The amount of money spent on this deal is yet unknown. This is the second time Addicting Games has appeared in the latest acquisition news, the first being Addicting Games acquired by Enthusiast Gaming.
Welcoming Diep.io into Addicting Games Family
Diep.io is a free-to-play 2D tank arena game launched in 2016. The game involves players battling each other in an arena, and their ultimate goal is to eliminate each other. Every player gets a tank to shoot other players or the polygons around them to level up.
Players can choose from a variety of game types, including FFA, Survival, 2 or 4 teams, and decide which one they like best. The game is available to play on web browsers, as well as on Android and iOS.
The game did exceptionally well on both Android and iOS in terms of performance. Since its release on iOS, Diep.io has received over 6.9 million downloads, according to GameRefinery.
On the other hand, Google Play counts even bigger download numbers, reaching more than 10 million since the release. Moreover, the game contains ads, both on the website and mobile platforms.
Addicting Games has welcomed Diep.io to their games library, says Addicting Games’ CEO, Bill Karamousiz. He shared that this acquisition was a part of the company’s strategy since they had also acquired Starve.io and Mope.io in the past two years. Along with these two IO titles, Addicting Games has more than a hundred others in their collection.
Furthermore, he states that Diep.io has a huge fanbase but that they plan on making it even larger in the future. Moreover, players can expect new leaderboards, game modes, achievements, and cosmetics. The mobile version of the game, as the CEO claims, will be rebuilt from scratch.
